I have never ever in my life want to mess with Router and modem. So this was my first attempt at it, and let me tell you. I was super thrilled!!! I did it! seriously took me half an hour to set it up on my laptop and then the other four computers around the house. It works great, and no internet disruption so even with all the computers running. My house is 3300 sq/ft, and two levels so this router really have a very good range. I don't know why I didnt' buy this product sooner!

I have had 4 wirless routers over the past 10 years. This was the easiest to setup. Just like it says on the box "pulg in the router, put the thumb dreive in a usb port on your computer and in miniutes you are connected. The only glitch I had was with my cable modum. I used the Valet to replace a wirless router. I unhooked all the cables from the old router and hooked up the the Valet. I forgot to rest my modem. This caused a momentary glitch but the setup program for the Valet reminded me to do the reset. Once that was doen everything works as it should. Easy setup and the ability to add other wireless devices and setup another computer is soooo easy. I have also noticed a great increase in the speed in which web pages load. A great product for those of us that don't want to get under the hood of wirless setup.

Ordered this "Valet" on 8-9-10. Installed it today..8-23-10.. after 3 hours of use, it died..I uninsulated it..waited one hour, reinstalled..NOTHING!! Back to my old Linsky..which is on it's last leg..Ya pay darn near &80 bucks...!!! Again, I'm in a Broadband area..Local Internet company too lazy/cheap to get DSL!!!! Maybe that could have something to do with it. Everyday around 3 PM..I get disconnected from my wireless..a wireless!!! So, i'll try the old one for a while..then try new Valet..if it still doen't work..It's mailed back to Amazon...

This router goes from fast to extremely slow. Many of my most vital sites load slower than on dialup. Much too frustrating for me; I'm sending it back.

My wife bought me a laptop, so what was I to do but buy a wireless router?! Looked at a bunch of wireless routers, knew from previous experience that Cisco/Linksys would be good, so ended up with the Valet-Plus. Had to chuckle at the "Quick Start" instructions - "Plug it in, turn it on, and follow the directions." And it really was that simple. Had our two pcs, our VoIP phone, and my new laptop up and running inside about 30 minutes. Set up the guest account that my sons and their wives could use during a recent visit, also. I have a HP J4680 printer connected to my pc that I wanted to add to my laptop. Plug for HP: Installation was the EASIEST install I've ever done. The software made the right decisions regarding my wireless, my firewall (told me the correct settings for maximum security), and had a test printout (from my living room immediately! How cool is that?! Last night I set up my Sony Bluray Player to stream Netflix movies over the wireless. Sony - no plug for you! Aaarrrgghhh! Ultimately, discovered that the Valet-Plus IS WPS-enabled (WiFi Protected Setup), Did sort of a Bluetooth bonding thing between the router and Bluray player via WPS, and that solved it. No thanks to Sony, tho! Spent the evening watching two movies streamed over the router, and was quite impressed, thank you very much. BTW, the router does include an SPI-firewall, if that's important to you.
The included Cisco Connect software is great - most things you need to do with settings can be done from the program which is really simple and straight forward.
Live and learn: There are 7 indicator lights and one button on top of the router. Just discovered that the button is for WPS! It wasn't necessary to go into the advanced settings to connect my Bluray player - the button was there all the time! Which leads me to my next point:
Cons? Yeah - even if it is so simple a caveman could do it, there needs to be documentation - paper documentation, that is. The website can be useful, but you need to know how to ask the right question in the right way. Paper is better. One more con: As soon as I bought it from Amazon FOR $109.99, found it at WalMart for $99.99. Of course....
I'm very satisfied with it, and would happily recommend to to others (I guess I just did that, huh?)
