 "Phenomenal Router" 2010-08-25
By RobOhh (New York)
This router is phenomenal! It is a router designed for open source community. I replaced a Linksys wrt54gl running tomato firmware ver. 1.28. with the NetGear WNR3500L. I have the Netgear WNR3500L running the latest Tomato firmware from [...] it is a modified firmware from the stock tomato firmware from [...]. It allows the USB interface on the router to be used either for NAS or print server. I have an external usb drive hooked up to the USB interface as a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. The router has 4port 1gig Ethernet switch and wireless Access point AP)802.11n Working flawlessly! Not for the faint of heart, but recommended for the user who loves to build networks. Router also works with DD-WRT firmware. This router has a web site dedicated for the users of this router. Check it out at [...].

"Works so much better than my old router" 2010-08-24
By L. Retterath
I've been stumbling around on the internet using a Belkin G router for years now. I finally bit the bullet and purchased this Wireless-N router. I can't believe I waited so long. I used to drop the internet connection on all my computers all the time. Haven't had any issues at all with this router and have great wireless speeds.

 "Great Router!" 2010-08-21
By Stephen J. Miller (Apex, NC)
I just purchased this router based on the reviews here. My D-Link DIR-655 had died after about 2 years of okay service. Frankly, I was dreading the setup based on the pain I'd been through setting up the D-Link.

The Netgear WNR3500L set up was super simple - - easily 100X easier than the D-Link this replaced. I used the CD first and then went in to the router manually and made some personal adjustments. I have a desktop, 4 laptops, a multimedia desktop and a Weather Direct device connected. No trouble with any of them. Absolutely simple setup!

Signal strength in my two-story wood framed home is great. If you need a simple, straight forward, no frills N-wireless router buy this one!

 "Good Router" 2010-08-20
By B. Bright (Indianapolis, IN)
I used to have a AirD (or something like that) router that would cause various devices, especially iPhone, iPad, a laptop and a netbook to frequently lose connection and require re-entry of the complex WEP key. Although not all of my devices had this issue, it was over half and sometimes the key needed to be entered several times in a day. My iPad wouldn't even work half the time with the old router.

Now that I have this router, the connections are never dropped and never need re-entry of the WEP key. In addition the router has a USB port that you can hook an external harddrive up to which is SWEET. I just plugged in my external drive, and now I effectively have a backup/media server that can be immediately accessed by any device on the network.

Tech support for Netgear is in India. Although the guy I called was very nice, he did have a relatively strong accent and also had to read many different scripts during a coversation which would have otherwise taking 1/5th of the time it ultimately required.

Why did I need to call tech support? Well that was really my fault. I was unplugging my cable modem and connecting everything as instructed (you don't need to bother with the CD they include), but it still wouldn't connect. It was only by calling tech support that I learned that some cable modems have a battery (I just recieved a new one). If you don't remove this battery when you power off the modem, it will still be looking for your old router and not detect the new one. Once I got the battery out, everything worked perfectly.

I've had the router for about a month and it has worked great so far. I recommend it.
