My 1TB time capsule lasted for 2.5 years before the power supply failed due to overheating. While it worked, I used it as my router and for backing up Windows and Macintosh computers on my network. It worked very well for those tasks and I never had problems. It was an extremely easy product to set up and use. The router was especially stable, and it never froze or had to be reset. The lack of web-based configuration software bugged me, but wasn't a major issue in my home network environment. Two weeks ago, I lost my internet connection and, upon further investigation, found that the Time Capsule had shut off completely, even though it was plugged in. Attempts to power cycle the unit sometimes resulted in brief resuscitation, with the LED blinking amber and the hard drive starting to spin up, but it would never work for more than a few seconds before shutting down. When extracted from the unit, the hard drive worked fine.
The bottom line is that the Time Capsule's design is flawed and does not provide enough ventilation to the power supply inside of these units. If you are considering a Time Capsule, search the internet for "Time Capsule Dead" and learn about how widespread this issue is. Apple has acknowledged the problem and has a replacement program for dead Time Capsules within a certain range of serial numbers, but there is little evidence that they have solved the problem on newer or replacement units. Given the extremely limited lifespan of this product, I do not recommend it and have since salvaged the 1 TB drive and attached it to a network attached storage device from another company.

I purchased this product about a month ago, and I couldn't be happier. I replaced a Netgear wireless router and 2 Netgear USB print servers. As with most Apple products, it was easy to configure and I had it working in only a few minutes.
Although the Time Capsule backup ability is key, the thing that I like the best is the integrated wireless router and the ability to attach USB printers and hard drives. I have 2 printers (HP LaserJet & HP InkJet) and 1 USB hard drive attached to the Time Capsule via a USB hub, and they all work flawlessly. Each printer was easy to configure on both Mac OSX (Airport Utility) and Windows 7 boxes (Bonjour print service). It was a little bit harder to get the USB hard drive working, but that was because I did not understand that the drive had to be formated HFS+ in order to be seen by the Time Capsule. This is not clear in the documentation, but once I figured that out, it was just plug and play.
I have not had the device long enough to see if it is going to last more than a year, but I certainly hope it does. Overall, I am very happy with the product and highly recommend it.

Time Capsule serves for two purposes: backing up your data if you own a Mac computer, and also as a router for setting up a home wireless network. You can say Time Capsule is pricey, but the simple setup, hassle-free use and backups and the also simple configuration settings, will make you realize you've made a good investment.
First of all: this is not a product for Windows users. If you don't own a Mac, you'll be better with other solutions around. Now if you're on the Apple fold, this will work like a charm with tools you already have (if you are on Snow Leopard), like the AirPort utility and Network settings.
Time Capsule is truly plug-and-play: you turn it on, connect it to your Mac, and you start backing up. In my experience (using a mid-2009 MBP and a brand-new mid-2010 iMac) doing backups can be a whole lot faster using 802.11n Wifi. If you try to use a Ethernet cable, you'll be treated with the slowest backup speeds ever.
After that, it's just set it and forget it. It backs my two Macs up wirelessly and seamlessly, while providing Internet access to all our computers, including my mom's PC, and also helping us in sharing a printer with Bonjour (standard on Macs, a downloadable standalone application on Windows).
As of now, I'm pretty happy with my purchase and willing to recommend it to people who use Macs. If you don't, better try some other, cheaper routing solutions.

Easy to set up. Very effective range and speed. No problems yet with the unit.
