Purchased this router to replace an old DLink G router. I spent 3 weeks trying to get this router to work reliably but could not. Technical support was extremely basic and not helpful and a firmware upgrade helped at first, but that did not last. The router was rarely in a "ready" mode and I had to reset many times. In the end I could not login to the router from any of my computers so I decided it was time for it to go. I have an ATT DSL connection which may have contributed, but this router consumed time and did not work well. I purchased a Netgear WNDR3700 and that product worked well right out of the box.
The consumers that indicated they had no issues with this router must have purchased a different product.

I'll make this brief, and based only on my immediate observations.
I tried this product in place of an existing Apple Airport Extreme set to 2.4 Ghz, N-Only WiFi (additional range was my hope), and found that from the other side of my house (where I work) with the same (or any other) settings it was useless. I couldn't hold a connection, and when I did the speed was horrible. From the same location using my Airport Extreme, I have never lost a connection, and although my speed is essentially cut in half (from being in the same room as the AE), the Airport Extreme just works.
This product definitely has a lot of features that the AE doesn't, but not so good at carrying a signal through walls. If I was in a smaller space, this product would probably be fine, and I could certainly use the additional options/features... but the AE beats it hands-down for range.

I bought this router (DIR-825 Rev B2) for a relatively simple job: jo routing at all -j ust be a reliable simultaneous dual band access point.
Unfortunately even that appeared to be too much to ask. The DIR-825 was okay to set up manually, although it would have been nice if among the 5 million features and click boxes it had a simple one called "access point" mode, which many other routers have. But fine, I did the set up job.
Once setup was fine I quickly found that router struggled to beat even the g router I had already in the house. At 2.4 Ghz it was not great, despite a variety of channel changes and placements. The 5Ghz was even weaker.
Worse yet the router began a really annoying behaviour of just dropping the internet signal from the main router entirely. At that point, i packed it back in the box after a week of annoyance and returned it to the seller.
A real waste, as the DIR-825 has a lot of good features and can be customized in many ways. But without basic performance and reliability, features are worth nothing. It's hard to believe that D-Link actually put this junk out there for sale - no respect for their own brand it seems!

I bought this router based upon the preponderance of positive reviews on Amazon. Big mistake. I should have looked for reviews on other sites, for if I had, I would have been forewarned of issues which ultimately led me to toss this router. After I had installed and encountered problems, I reread Amazon reviews, then went to CNET. On CNET I found reviews (equal in number to the positive reviews) that spoke of dropped connections, which was the problem I had. This router seems to garner love it or hate it reviews, with little in the middle.
My experience (details same as negative reviews by others) is that the Ethernet (wired) connection would drop twice in five minutes. Wireless was more stable, but no more than that.
My advice to you would be (if you get this router) to put it through its paces early and if you have the same dropped connection issue, trust that it's not you, it's the router, and return it.
Today I installed the Netgear N600 and it is everything I had hoped the Dlink would be.

So far this router has worked great!!! Easy to install with the supplied cd. I can connect throughout my house with multiple pc's. This is what I needed and this is what the product allows me to do. Have not had to use tech support so did not give a rating. No issues
