 "Garbage" 2010-08-23
By RockOli (Los Angeles, CA)
Naturally, I purchased this router for its USB network connection feature; Be aware: It does not work!

I am running Windows 7 on a high-powered machine, no matter what device I try to connect, it searches forever (using the included trial software "Network Magic") and just never finishes the process.

Simply put: Integration of mass storage, printers, etc does not happen.

It works OK as a wireless router, however, it is not worth the hype as far as USB connectivity is concerned. Do not buy!

 "Bad choice" 2010-08-19

Did not work right from the box, the second Linksys that did that. Tech support spent hours, no success, asked to return the item back to seller. Bought Apple Airport Extreme, the best choice for N-wireless modems with storage links.

"great price for a great product" 2010-08-13

I have been keeping an eye on it for a while. This 160NL was priced at over $90 for long time and now it's only 10 bucks more than the Linux G router WRT54GL offered by Linksys. I bought one at this reduced price and it works great. good deal!

"Initially disappointed but happy now" 2010-08-08
By Pinaki Chakraborty (Ft. Lauderdale, Fl)
I bought this router since I had to upgrade from my old Netgear router. I was attracted by the wireless N feature and the external storage connectivity option. The router looks very sleek. However, to take advantage of the N feature, you need to have a wireless N capability on your laptop or devices that will access the wireless network. Installation was relatively easy. Initially, I was not impressed by the speed as I did not notice a significant difference from my previous Netgear router. Also, I could not figure out how to connect the external drive. I was quite dissapointed by the speed. Then I started to get dropped connections. I got fed up and was almost going to return the product when I had some more time in my hand after the completion of my MBA to do some research. I went the the tech support site and researched the reason for dropped connection including interference with other 2.4 GHz devices in the house like your handsfree phone. The website instructed me to changed the default channel. I called tech support, and they asked to change the channel to 9 under wireless settings. After that, the speed improved dramatically. No more dropped calls. Also, tech support remotely took control of my computer and helped me install an extrenal USB drive that can be used as a network storage location by multiple users. I saw that my Netgear also had a USB port and wonder if it had this feature as well. I am a happy customer now. Linksys can do better on the easy set-up guide in explaning the optimal setting and how to connect the external drive as they almost lost me as a customer on this one.

"Worst Router I've Ever Owned" 2010-06-30

This router is terrible. I constantly have to get my devices to re-associate with it making work unproductive. I do not recommend this router.
